This has to be one of my favourite fashion collaborations - Japanese icon Hello Kitty and British institution Liberty of London.
Using a mix of new prints and ones archived from the 30s the collab has brought about a range of products from cosmetics through stationary to alarm clocks and jewellery in the world renowned ditsy florals with a HK twist - Kitty Town features all of the Sanrio characters in a quaint English countryside setting, Music Festival sees Kitty playing her favourite instruments, Apple Tree features one of HKs favourite foods, Kitty Wonderland is a fantasy world with all of Kitty's favourite toys while Karenkubo is an adaptation of an original 30s print.
Launching exclusively at Liberty from September 26th.

'One Night Stand' - Oh Marc, You Minx!
While nail wraps have always followed fashion's ever changing trends, and designers have already collaborated with the manicure market (think Giles Deacon and Wah Nails) Marc Jacobs has been the first to design a full collection of designs, with Minx. The series of wraps, named 'One Night Stand', are all limited edition and use colour palettes seen in Marc's own a/w 11 collection...

Fall In To H&M
I ♥ H&M when it comes to their autumn/winter stock and this season is no exception. However because I'm trying to focus on really focusing on getting as much of the homestead decorated/organised as possible and organising the business, buying into the brands array of mustard, stripes and tweed (think Annie Hall, geek-librarians and equestrain prints) will have to wait. Instead I'll sate my appetite with a few of these luxe-for-less accessories...

Tutorial Trio - Three Days Of Nail Art
Three quick nail tutorials then I'm gonna put a short term hold on the mani's as this 'bit of everything' blog is quickly turning into one all about nail art...
Left hand thumb nail in H&M Preppy, other nails in Miss Sporty (no 340, a kind of deep cherry) with a heart on the thumb in the darker colour - created by dotting the three points of a triangle with a kirby grip then continuously dotting to join them together and create the shape.
Red nail polish is Revlon Cherries in the Snow, grey polish is Mavala The Elle Grey (free with this months British Elle) - I used the red colour on the nails I would be wearing a ring on.
Nails Inc in Basil Street (my new favourite nude) with both pinky fingers edged in clear diamante (from a Poundland nail art kit).

Black Suede Disco Ball
Another day, another nail tutorial try out from Makeup Savvy.
This was super easy, though time consuming to do - you're never going to be able to do this neatly which is a plus in that you don't have to have a steady hand and a negative because it takes an age to clean up between each coat. But boy is it worth it for the finished result.
The polishes I used where Revlon's Grey Suede, Miss Sporty's Black and Rimmel's Disco Ball (a mix of purple, blue, silver and holographic glitter).
You'll also need a make-up sponge for the stippling coat...click here for the original tutorial.
The original nails had a much greater volume of glitter but unfortunately I didn't have OPI to hand and Rimmel was the only glitter polish I could find on short notice.
The stippling is also something I will definitely be playing around with for other nails soon but for now...

A Messy Manicure
A friend of mine (aka best pal in the whole wide world) recently turned my on to the beauty blog Makeup Savvy - and inevitably I became addicted and sat and scrolled through all of the nail art tutorials. There's a whole ream of fashion inspired styles and ones you've probably seen before, the beauty here is that the process has been massively simplified and often using makeup products you'll probably already have rather than fancy manicure and nail art ones - think gel pens, glitter eyeliner and Barry M Dazzle Dust.
It was the later used in a manicure that caught my eye partly because the effect was so striking but also because I had the exact same colours used in the tutorial - Dust in Brass and Beauty UK polish (from Superdrug) in Smoky Lilac. For anyone trying this I would warn that the whole process is very messy...cover the surrounding area with newspaper, don't do it anywhere near a carpet and have face wipes at the ready. However, despite the mess, I love the finished nail and the whole thing only took about 15 minutes including drying time. Go to Makeup Savvy for the Dazzle Dust Manicure instructions and have a look at the rest of the site.
As for my next forays in to nail art...I've found a handful that I'll be duping over the next few weeks via Pinterest:

Double DIY: Chanel Perfume Bottle
I own four scents but two that I would describe as being 'signature' - Thierry Mugler's Alien and Coco Chanel (my other two currents are Marc Jacobs Lola and YSL Parisienne). When it comes to perfume I love the containers as much as what they hold so when one is finished I keep it, only getting rid if I replace the perfume with a new bottle of the same. A couple days ago I realised I had managed to accrue two empty bottles on top of the one I am working my way through. It kinda seemed a shame to just put them in the bin...that big cut glass stopper was calling to me specifically.
So after a lot of twisting (and, I'll admit, tantrum throwing in frustration and my boyfriend taking over) the lid and its little plastic 'cuff' where separated (FYI my bf ended up having to use a butter knife).
The first DIY I wanted to go for was turning the 'cuff' in to a thumb ring. Be prepared for spending a lot of time cleaning glue remnants from it once you've finished!
Obviously I didn't want to cover the black and gold band or the interlocking C's so my chosen decoration had to be focused on the top clear plastic lip. I dug out some lightweight vintage gold toned chain and measured it around the circumference to work out the correct length. I was lucky enough that the ends just overlapped so I opened up one end link, liberally applied glue (I used Tesco's All Purpose...very similar to E6000!) then stuck down the chain. After a few seconds of letting the glue cure I was able to push the open link around the other end of the chain and nip it closed , forming a perfect fitting circle of chain on my ring.
From here onwards it was slightly trial and error as I figured out what looked good and what would not make the ring too chunky. In the end I settled for using some vintage diamante studs which I wedged inside every other link using the same glue to secure. I then sat patiently and picked off any excess, visible glue with a pin (time consuming but works well as chemicals tend to tarnish).
And that's it, one night, one Chanel thumb ring...

And now for the double part of the DIY - remember the glass perfume top? Well turn it upside down and pop a tapered candle inside (you may need to add a little melted wax to the bottom first) for a simple, chic candle holder. Several of these in different sizes with different coloured candles would look amazing!

Banging On About Bangs
So on Monday we watched the first episode of E4s new 'entertainment documentary' Dirty Sexy Things - hoping that it would be more Model Agency 'real' than the cheesy (but still addictive) Made In Chelsea (thankfully it was somewhere inbetween). But it wasn't the scantily clad models running around London that caught my attention, it was Perou's first assistant Clara Maidment - and more notably her fringe.
It's not often I get fringe envy (hair envy, yes!) but I suddenly had to have her blunt heavy bangs. So yesterday I started slowly snipping away at my own locks to get the look. So far, so good - I always find the real test with a full straight fringe is getting it to look the same after it's been washed for the first time...we shall see.

Look Your Best At The Fest - Summer Festival Hair Guide
And so the final part of The Tiny Atelier Summer Festival Guide.
While I'm sure you'll get to the fest with super clean, shiny, soft hair it's doubtful that even after one day of rain, sun, mud, dancing and running to and from tents it'll still look that way.
The first defense in solving these hair dramas should be a can of dry shampoo. Bumble & Bumble hair powder has always been hailed as one of the best - available in a range of colours to match your hair.
If you need a cheaper option opt for Batiste dry shampoo. You can now buy their product in blond through brunette shades but if you opt for a fragranced version you won't need to pack body spray or perfume - my personal favourite is Tropical, with its summery coconut scent:
TIP: Spray dry shampoo on to roots and throughout the hair before going to bed. The pillow will rub off any excess white powder meaning you won't have the appearance of grey hair in the morning!
A side braid is a great option if you have the length. Click here to watch a video on how to create an Alexander Wang style plait.
If you have longer hair why not try this style the day before to leave you with soft waves?

Hair 'up' is likely to be your best option for a long weekend where there's no chance of washing it on day two. Execute the style before you go to save packing tools - though do pop an extra few kirby grips, hair fasteners and mini can of hairspray into your bag (TTA recommends L'oreal Elnett Flexible):
The top knot is a great style for a festival - it gets all of your hair up and away from your face and is one of few hair dos that actually looks good when its messy. Up keep is super easy...if a few stands pop out just push them into the nearest kirby grip. To create this style simply sweep hair up into a high ponytail, coil the hair around the base of the pony, secure with kirby grips, spray with hairspray!
If you have longer hair why not try this style the day before to leave you with soft waves?
------------------------------
Hair accessories are also key for festival hair. Not only can you use them to compliment your outfit but they can hide and detract from a multitude of hair sins..Try a turban to hide dirty roots and to keep a wayward fringe under control - ASOS, £8
Go OTT with this flower headband from River Island, £15
Pull hair into a low or half ponytail then simply clip these gingham bow accessories across your crown - Topshop, £6
If you're glamping rather than camping, why not opt for a handmade feather headband by Pearl & Ivy, £25
------------------------------
If all else fails, pop a straw hat on and forget it about....just choose from '70s wide brim floppy hat, trilby or bowler
ASOS £20
Seeberger £20
Brixton £45

Look Your Best At The Fest - Summer Festival Nail Guide
If you're only wanting a slick of colour while you're slumming it in a field then skip the nudes and go for deep, dark shades or rainbow brights. Beige, caramel, mink...they all look tatty when they get chipped (and however good the polish, they will get chipped) whereas as darker colours still look fine when a little scruffy.
For Gothic shades and jewel tones that are high gloss you can't beat Revlon. At £6.49, pick one polish for fingers and toes:
For summer neons pop to Barry M. At just £2.99 (and with Boots and Superdrug often running a 2 for £5 offer) you can afford to pick up a different shade for every nail:
Barry M's Nail Effects is now available in Black, White Frost, Pink Fizz and Blue Print (£3.99 each) - just one coat over any nail polish leaves a cracked, animal print effect on you nails.
TIP: Once dry coat with clear polish as the Nail Effects formula drys matte and will easily chip.

There are two super simple ways to do nail art without any fuss that are quick and don't need a steady hand:Barry M's Nail Effects is now available in Black, White Frost, Pink Fizz and Blue Print (£3.99 each) - just one coat over any nail polish leaves a cracked, animal print effect on you nails.
Or go for high impact, low maintenance with Nail Rock Nail Wraps (£6.65) - simply trim your chosen wrap to fit, apply self adhesive side to the base of the nail then use a small hairdryer to heat strip and apply fully to the nail.

If you've got a few spare hours before your chosen Fest why not dabble in a little nail art. ASOS recently teamed up with nail artist Sophy Robson for a music inspired shoot:
